On of the beauties of having a dedicated art room is that you can do really messy things. Not all schools are like that! Today our Year 7 pupils were creating something with clay. They were making a flat tile like surface and pressing various flowers and leaves into the clay. You might have thought they were then going to fire the tiles, but that wasn’t the case. Once the leaves had been imprinted they were removed leaving a depression. They boys then built up the sides of the tile to form a box. Into this they poured plaster of Paris. Once this has dried the clay will be removed leaving an embossed plaster of Paris surface. Great work Year 7 (and Mrs Hill)!
