Lancaster Bomber Fly Past

It isn’t everyday that you look up and see a Lancaster bomber flying over the school. It seemed particularly apt because our Leavers Service had just come to an end. One of our Year 8 leavers had a great grandfather who flew Lancasters during the war – he flew a huge number of sorties and ended up in a Pathfinder Squadron. Not only that, on our Memorial Board in the Chapel are the names of some of our pupils who lost their lives flying these planes over Germany. It was a very poignant moment – one Lancaster saluting another just starting out on his journey through life.
