Outdoor Classroom Day

Lockers Park pupils joined over 9 million children around the world by taking part in Outdoor Classroom Day on Thursday 21 May.

At Lockers Park we understand that spending time outdoors is as important for children’s development as learning to read and write. Playing and learning outside engages and excites children and helps boost their health, wellbeing and happiness.

Reception made shapes out of sticks, went on a nature alphabet hunt and had a teddy bear tea party! Year 1 had fun testing the water resistance of the different materials. Year 2 created garden fractions and made their own garden weather stations. They are going to use these to compare the weather in England with the weather in the Amazon Rainforest. Years 3 and 4 made outdoor board games. Year 5 made parachutes to investigate air resistance, and year 6 carried out a traffic survey in their local area.
