An Exciting New Chapter

Welcoming Mr Taylor as Headmaster from September 2021

We’re delighted to announce that Lockers Park’s Deputy Head, Mr Gavin Taylor, has been promoted to Headmaster and will take over the helm from September 2021.

As the current Deputy Head, Mr Taylor brings a wealth of experience and knowledge as well as being a familiar face to many. He has been an invaluable asset to the staff team since joining Lockers Park in 2007. In his 13 years with Lockers Park, Mr Taylor has immersed himself in a range of roles spanning Form Teacher, Head of Sport and Head of Boarding through to Head of Pastoral and Deputy Head, the latter a role he has held for the last six years.

Commenting on his appointment, Mr Taylor says: “It is with great pride that I take up the mantle of Headmaster at Lockers Park. It is a privilege to be part of such a vibrant and supportive school community that enables every one of its pupils to explore their potential and develop into the best they can be. I am looking forward to building on the success of my predecessor and further developing our provision to ensure the school continues to thrive.”

Mr Chris Lister, Lockers Park’s Chair of Governors observes: “Mr Taylor is a man of great integrity and strong values, respected by pupils, staff and parents alike. His deep knowledge of the school alongside his plans and ambitions for its continued success, make him the perfect candidate to lead Lockers Park into a new chapter.”

Mr Taylor is a keen sportsman and enjoys playing cricket, rugby and golf, family walks and cooking in the great outdoors. He will take up residence in the school grounds with his wife Nichola, two daughters, Sookie and Fleur, and their golden Labrador, Honey.

We want to take this opportunity to thank Mr Christopher Wilson and his wife Hayley, for their hard work and commitment to the school over the past nine years. During his tenure at Lockers Park, Mr Wilson beautifully balanced preserving the essence of Lockers Park – a boys only, outstanding prep school education and life – with a modernisation programme, ranging from updating our technology provision, to opening the Pre-Prep, to introducing our unique Critical Thinking programme and innovative Saturday school. We wish Mr Wilson all the best in the new role he’ll take up in September 2021, as Headmaster of Town Close, a prep school in Norwich.
