Celebrating 150 years
We are delighted to be celebrating a very important anniversary this year, 150 years since Lockers Park school was founded.
Lockers Park, founded in 1874 by Mr Henry Montagu Draper, is one of the earliest purpose-built prep schools in the UK; few prep schools have such a long and established history. Lockers was expressly created as a foundation school preparing boys for Rugby School, where Draper himself was educated and soon established itself as one of the top prep schools in the country, helping boys to take their next step in education across a wide range of public and private schools as rounded and upstanding pupils. This is a tradition and honour we are proud to maintain.
For a long time, Lockers has been a small and prestigious boarding school for boys aged 7-13. Today we happily welcome over 180 boys aged from 4 to 13; we have a mixture of boarding, flexi and day boys, with new provision and facilities in our fabulous 23-acre estate.
We are focused on building a strong sense of family and community, alongside excellent academic results and nurturing an enthusiasm for life. We believe we blend the best parts of our rich history with a progressive approach for these times. In other words, slatter and sets still exist alongside scouts, film nights, forest school and a curriculum that includes critical thinking and developing metacognition.
Our 150th birthday calendar launched in September 2023 and we have a year of wonderful events and celebrations, including a golf event, a LP community carol service and a London cocktail event to name a few. Our year will culminate with a big event next June.
