In Rudyard Kipling’s book “Kim” the hero of the story is a young boy who was trained as a spy. One of his lessons was to memorise a list of objects he only had one minute to see and then recall them. This led to Kim’s Game, where you do the same thing. Today our Year 1 & 2 children were given 90 seconds to look at 14 objects. They then had to go and find them. They did pretty well with several nearly getting everything. Why is this important? If you want to be a spy you need a good memory but even more vital is that if you were foraging you need to be able to identify everything correctly. One small mistake could be the difference between life and death, so building on observation skills is really important.
