Welcoming International Boarders
Lockers Park is proud of its international character; for over 140 years we have welcomed pupils from around the world and we greatly value the richness and diversity brought to our community.
A significant percentage of our full boarders are from overseas and we have deep experience and recognise the complexities of living and learning in a different country. We sensitively co-ordinate each boarder’s individual academic and extra-curricular programmes to ensure they settle in and adapt.
We are also able to help boys with English as a second language, offering one-to-one English language tuition to accelerate proficiency and fluency, ready for senior school needs. We help our pupils from different cultures and educational backgrounds to understand and learn about British culture and the British schooling system and curriculum.
We are proud that many prestigious senior schools across the UK recommend Lockers Park as a friendly and warm place to learn these skills prior to transferring at 13.
Our excellent pastoral care record means that all our overseas boarders are part of a secure family structure, ensuring they always feel welcome and well cared for.
We understand the complexities of educating children such a long way from home and offering support and flexibility to boys and their families to help them through this. There is always someone to lend a friendly, listening ear, whether the Housemaster, teacher or group tutor.
Boys living overseas must have an appointed guardian in this country. This is the parent’s responsibility to arrange, but we can help with the names of reputable Guardianship Agencies.
We are also happy to arrange a Child Student visa (previously known as a Tier 4 visa) sponsorship for pupils who require this and meet the criteria and we support you throughout the process. If you are unsure whether your child needs Child Student visa sponsorship, we recommend taking the UK Visas questionnaire to establish the correct visa.
