Sitting beside the prep school in our leafy 23-acre grounds, our Pre-Prep – known as Little Lockers – welcomes boys from Reception (aged 4 to 5) through to Year 2.
We are committed to academic excellence but also recognise the importance of a full and happy childhood. Our boys are given time to let off steam, build dens and simply have fun with friends. A rich extra-curricular calendar complements more formal learning to help our boys build strong peer groups and gain confidence.
High Quality Education
Small class sizes of 16 or fewer – a hallmark of a Lockers Park education – ensures every child receives a high level of attention from the outset. This also means we know all our boys incredibly well, where their strengths lie and where they need support. Each child has one-to-one time with their teacher, for literacy and/or numeracy activities every day in our bright, modern Little Lockers classrooms.
Our caring, experienced teachers know how to get the most from our boys, tapping into their natural curiosity with a creative curriculum that employs practical, interactive teaching techniques. This approach allows our boys to flourish both academically and socially. More about our Pre-Prep curriculum here.
A thriving outdoor life features weekly Nature & Environment lessons, creating a passion for learning through practical enjoyment. From building bug hotels (and studying the guests!) through to creating clay tree spirits, your son will be hands-on with nature, learning what our environment can teach us. There are ample opportunities to enjoy the school grounds, building dens in the shrubs and playing on the climbing apparatus. More about our outdoor learning here.
Excellent Wraparound Care
The Little Lockers school day starts at 8:45am and finishes at 3:45pm with excellent wraparound care.
Starting with breakfast at 7:30am, our Little Lockers boys can be cared for in advance of the day’s formal teaching and enjoy a range of activities.
After lessons finish at 3:45pm, boys can stay for stimulating after school activities that include both a Science Club and a Nature Arts and Crafts Club, before supper and pick-up at 6:00pm.
This is all included in the tuition fees at no extra cost.
Preparing for Prep School
Every term, informal reading, writing and maths assessments will be completed in class to ensure your son’s progress is fully monitored. By the time the boys are in Year 2, ready to transition into the main Prep School, they will be equipped with an unbeatable foundation and a thirst for learning more.
